Industry Partners

BATEC faculty work with industry partners in classrooms to provide feedback to students on performances & products.

Identifying willing industry partners to collaborate with faculty and visit classrooms takes time. Here are some ways that BATEC leaders and educators have successfully recruited representatives from local industries and community-based organizations.

  • Use alumni networks to identify graduates who are working in the local area; these folks are usually grateful for their educational experience and seek to “give back” to other students with whom they identify
  • Ask members of advisory boards at the college to contribute a bit of their time; actively engaging these members in classroom practices gives them a way to directly contribute to the greater good of the school
  • Attend college fairs and recruitment events where industry representatives meet and greet students; these people are usually interested in working with students to develop a pipeline of talent
  • Locate community-based organizations and appeal to their sense of civic and/or social responsibility
  • Use social media tools such as linked in to find local companies near your school and the people who work in those organizations
  • Ask faculty to ask others they know –good old word of mouth works wonders!
