Workshop Descriptions:

CIS (Computer Information Systems)

 Scottie Beam Me Up… Network Gaming with VB .NET 

How many hours a day do you spend playing games with your friends (and strangers) on the Net? Would you like to develop your own Net games? You will be exposed to the concepts of chat/instant messaging and net board games.  This workshop will introduce you to the major network and Visual Basic .NET components required to implement such games.  You will be provided with sample code and actual executable code for you to expand.

Introduction to Web Development

Learn to build your own Web Page using the language of the WWW, HTML. Topics include working with web page design, using pictures, graphics, and hyperlinks, creating tables, using sound and motion .Discover how to add Applets to your site.  

Multi-Media (Applied Arts)

Digital Imaging and Painting

This workshop introduces the concepts of adjusting, manipulating, and painting with Photoshop. You will experience  creating a collage by mixing different images and convert it into a painting. The principles of an effective composition will also be discussed. 

Digital Illustration

You will have an opportunity to explore the field of Digital Design and Illustration. You will experience creating an image using various drawing and shape tools in Illustrator software and Wacom drawing tablet. Also, you will explore the fundamentals of Vector design.

CSET (Computer System Engineering Technology)

TREBUCHETS

Learn the complex engineering behind medieval weapons.  Build your own trebuchet and see if you can knock down the castle walls.  Understand how minor changes in this weapon will affect its force of power.

Crime Scene Investigation 

Learn about what evidence prosecutors use to convict criminals and what technology plays a part in this process.  Study modern crime scene investigation by exploring common methods of evidence detection and analysis.  You will examine eye witness testimony and modern scientific procedures such as fingerprint gathering and matching, as well as DNA analysis. You will test out these theories by matching your own fingerprints and DNA.
